1. Only Use Dry Burnables
It can be tempting to rake your yard and immediately deposit all of those damp, pesky leaves or branches directly into your incinerator. However, we highly recommend drying out your yard debris before deciding to burn. By eliminating any extra water on your debris, smoke production can also be reduced.
2. Be Considerate of Air Flow
Be considerate of how you fill your incinerator. Try to leave space for free airflow between contents by scrunching paper rather than piling in full files and by carefully stacking wood. Creating these airways allows for easy oxygen flow, which helps the flame move quickly and efficiently through your burnables.
3. Always Know What You’re Burning
Different types of wood can cause more smoke when burning. Hardwoods such as oak, maple, and ash produce less smoke while softer woods like green pine result in more smoke. Try to monitor what you’re putting in your incinerator so you can keep an eye on smoke production!
